SEMARAK Training successfully conducted the Fundamentals of Petroleum Economics programme from 18 to 20 August 2026 at Imperial Lexis Kuala Lumpur.
The three-day programme brought together professionals from Mubadala Energy and PTTEP Sarawak Oil Limited, providing participants with essential knowledge of petroleum economics and its application within the upstream oil and gas industry.
Throughout the programme, participants strengthened their understanding of how economic evaluation supports investment, project development and commercial decision-making.
Understanding Petroleum Economics in Upstream Oil & Gas
Petroleum economics plays an important role in determining the commercial viability of upstream oil and gas projects. It provides the framework for evaluating project value, assessing risks and supporting informed investment decisions.
The programme covered fundamental concepts of petroleum economics, including cash flow principles, petroleum fiscal systems, Malaysian Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs), profitability indicators, risk analysis and portfolio considerations.
