Tripod Beta Analysis (Bronze Practitioners Accreditation) by Energy Institute

Why choose a Barrier-based analysis method?

Organisations make every effort to manage their operational risks. Unfortunately, incidents – unwanted disruptions in the desired process – must be taken into account, whether or not damage or injury is an outcome.

In such a case, it is valuable to investigate what happened, how it could have happened and what it takes to better manage the business process risks that can prevent similar incidents in the future.

Despite these efforts and best intentions, identifying the right underlying causes of the incident in practice often proves challenging. As a result, the improvement measures to be taken easily focus on fighting symptoms rather than structural improvement of business processes.

Barrier-based analysis methodologies, such as BFA and Tripod Beta, offer a solution! These methods provide structure during the analysis process. The effect of this is that it is practically challenging to stop ‘too early’ in an analysis. Also, a ‘Barrier-based’ analysis tells the whole story in a single visual diagram. This includes answers to the questions: What happened? What control measures should have been effective but weren’t? How come the required control measures were not rendered effective (enough)?

This course is approved by HRD Corp as a certification course which is 100% claimable (No.: 10001469934).

What method to use? ... and when?

Objective

This highly interactive and hands-on course covers topics related to the required knowledge, skills, tools, and mindset to participate in a Tripod Beta incident investigation process. Its strong focus is on understanding the Tripod Beta analysis method and how to apply it in your professional environment.

Accreditation for Tripod Beta Bronze Practitioner

The ‘Stichting Tripod Foundation’ (STF) is the quality assurance Institute for Tripod. STF has defined an accreditation system for Tripod Beta Users (Practitioners), Trainers and Assessors.

We allow participants to take the official Bronze Practitioner knowledge assessment online. This is a significant advantage because participants can take the test at their own pace at a time that suits them best after the training. After the test, participants will immediately see their results. Participants receive the official Tripod Beta Bronze Practitioner status upon completing this assessment.

For additional information on the accreditation process, please refer to the website of the Energy Institute (the secretariat for accreditation on behalf of Stichting Tripod Foundation).

Training method, case studies and didactics

The training program provides a simple, easy-to-follow approach to building Tripod Beta analyses. This allows investigators to apply the method in any incident investigation (no matter its complexity).

The program is highly interactive and hands-on, focusing on group dynamics. This keeps the course lively and fun to do! During the course, the trainer fulfils the role of ‘coach’.

Delegates are encouraged to participate and will be challenged (both individually and group-wise) by practical exercises based on own cases.
